My Birthday in Las Vegas!

I just got back from a road trip to Las Vegas for my birthday! I’ve been there so many times, but I wanted to do a Vegas a little differently this time. I didn’t feel like going to any clubs or day parties, and I don’t really drink anymore so I had to get a bit creative. On the drive there, I really wanted to stop by the art installation, “Seven Magic Mountains” by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, that is just in the middle of the desert. This work of art is 7 stacks of large stones that are painted into different colors to represent the natural and artificial existing in the same space. It resembled a modern Stonehenge, with less mystery. This exhibit is free and open to the public until 2021.

Next stop was Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse for my Birthday dinner! It was my first time dining at Del Frisco’s and I was throughly impressed! They had a beautiful wine cellar with wines from all over the world and some that are one of a kind.

My partner had a drink called “The VIP” it was pineapples steeped in clementine vodka for a week with a sweet foam on top. It tasted to me like a creamsicle, it was sweet and didn’t taste like alcohol at all. Next was the Bacon Au Poivre, it was a thick cut bacon with a glaze of bourbon molasses topped with sliced chile to cut through the fat and give it a little kick!

The start of the main course consisted of the Wagyu tasting with 3 ounces of Rosewood wagyu from Texas, Australian Wagyu, then the highlight Japanese A5. This was probably the highlight of my already amazing meal. It was incredibly buttery and tender with the small side of what I think is Himalayan pink salt and black Hawaiian salt bringing all the flavors to life. Next was the Bone-in-filet, Oscar style with jumbo lump crab meat, shaved asparagus and a house-made bearnaise, also one of my favorites. We also had the Chilean Sea Bass with crab fried rice and black bean garlic sauce decorating the plate, the Uptown Del’s potato, the brussel sprouts with smoked bacon, and the Lobster Macaroni and cheese.

To top it all off, we had warm Butter cake with house-made caramel sauce and Butter Pecan ice cream. You truly can’t go wrong with butter cake, or Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse. The staff, chefs, management, and even their marketing company were incredibly friendly, sweet, and on top of their game. Everything came out in a timely manner, the restaurant itself was impeccably clean and beautiful. Overall, an absolute 10/10. Thank you so much Del Frisco’s Las Vegas for hosting me for my birthday, I had an absolute blast.

Then it was off to Blue Man Group at the Luxor! I’ve actually wanted to see Blue Man Group for many years now and was so excited to have this opportunity to partner with them to see a show! It was so much fun but really hard to describe. It was music, mostly creative percussion instruments made with tubing and other random items, it was comedy, it was interactive, it was messy and colorful. Overall, a must-see and something one has to experience for themselves.

And I have to thank Kari Garcia, Berenice, and all the staff at TSP Baking Company for making me this absolutely adorable cake (and the not pictured cupcakes that I ended up eating on the ride back to the hotel) to make my birthday really special. The inside was pink with pineapple frosting (my favorite) and the outside had adorable pearls, glitter, sugar shells, sand dollars, and fondant version of me. The cake was so moist and the buttercream and decorations stayed put in the Vegas heat and tasted absolutely exquisite. I highly recommend checking out TSP Baking Company for all your baked goods whenever you’re in the Vegas area!
